CANDIDATE STATEMENT

Russ Allen

Retired Teacher

            Born in Fresno, my children and I graduated from Fresno High. I was a Blue-Collar Laborer/Construction Worker until college degrees were earned. I am vested in Social Security. I earned a Teaching Credential, an M.S. of Education, Suma Cum Laude and a B.B.A. Magna Cum Laude from National University. Also attended Pacific University and Fresno City College.

I started my Teaching Career in February of 1990 as a Substitute Teacher. I was contracted to teach at Bullard High in the 94/95 school year, teaching Math/Algebra. I then moved to Scandinavian Middle School where I taught Science, Math/Algebra and Bilingual/ESL classes. I also coached baseball, softball, ran an afterschool music class and served as an FTA representative. Twelve years later, I transferred to DeWolf Continuation H.S. and taught Algebra and Geometry. I also ran the music program until I retired in February of 2021.

I vow to fend for the needs of the Fresno High pyramid’s students and parents. It takes a community. “How is this good for our children?” Will be asked. I will come out of retirement to fend for the students of the Fresno High area, Go Warriors!!!
